USPS Governor Dan Tangherlini, a former administrator of the General Services Administration, said the agency’s financial position “continues to degrade.”“Operating costs are not falling below our improving revenue, and most importantly, service is not improved at the same rate as price increases,” Tangherlini said.First-class mail revenue increased by more than 2%, despite a 3.4% decrease in volume. USPS has raised prices on its mail products twice a year for the past years. It raised the price of a first-class stamp to 73 cents in July — up from 68 cents.“While the board remains committed to the imperatives expressed in the Delivering for America plan to rebuild USPS infrastructure and systems, I’m concerned about implementation performance and our ability to maintain customer support for these hard and necessary changes,” Tangherlini said.https://lnkd.in/e-utk3_R

Jon Ossoff, D-Georgia. "It's a real, real problem."Nonprofits also are experiencing checks not showing up in the mail.https://lnkd.in/e23BRf99

OK Prisons Privatize Mail, as “Digital Processing Centers” Expand Drug WarBeginning September 1, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (ODOC) will no longer deliver physical mail to the nearly 23,000 people in its custody. Instead, letters—including photographs and greeting cards—must be addressed to a digital processing center in Texas where a private contractor will read and scan the contents. If approved, mail will then be uploaded to tablets provided by the same company.https://lnkd.in/eHf6zNXm
